Are Thai Mail Order Brides Submissive Enough?

Upon receiving the news from a friend that he was returning from overseas – as a married man! I was quite excited for him- or at least as excited as any male friend can be for another male friend. Oddly enough, despite having known Vincent ever since our high school days, I quickly realized I didn’t have a clue who the man had married. I had never known Vincent to have a relationship that made it past three weeks, much less to the precipice of wedlock. It was therefore with some trepidation that I knocked on Vincent’s door, and announced myself ready to meet the lucky lady.

I needn’t have worried. Kwang was a knockout and, as I soon discovered, Thai to boot. She’s a true Oriental beauty, with flowing jet black hair, beautiful dark almond eyes, and a delightful sing-song accent that quickly charmed my heart. I couldn’t believe Vincent’s luck and, as Kwang retired into the kitchen to brew up another cup of delicious Thai ginseng tea, I pulled him quickly aside and practically begged the story out of him.

With a sheepish grin, Vincent admitted that his lucky catch was the result of having spent an afternoon idly browsing the Internet, and coming upon a website that advertised beautiful Thai mail order brides seeking marriage with Western (especially American) men. “But those sites are for…” Luckily, I stopped myself in time. Instead, I said, “Come on, be frank, Vincent – are you for real?”

“Look, pal”, Frank replied. “Despite what you think, not all mail order brides are stupid peasant bimbos looking for a free ride to America and a magic green card. Kwang is a beautiful, college educated, very intelligent woman who is looking for a husband that will encourage her ambitions, not some local yokel Thai goon whose idea of women’s lib is letting the mule do most of the yard work. She’s here looking for a career, not a meal ticket.”

At that moment Kwang returned from the kitchen and sat down beside her new husband. Looking at them together, sipping tea and looking the perfect picture of true domestic contentment gave me serious pause for thought. Despite my reputation as a ladies’ man, what had twenty years’ worth of relationships gotten me? Certainly nothing even remotely close to what these two had.

I considered Vincent’s words. Perhaps a change of expectations, not only physical but cultural as well, might be just the thing for me. I certainly wasn’t having any luck as the stereotypical All American boy. Perhaps it truly was time to widen up my world, and why not with a woman by my side?

Anyhow, that was the beginning of my journey. I’ve never looked back, and perhaps it’s time for you to travel a little as well. What’s there to lose except the tired, dreary familiarity you already hate?
